Arnie is a Registered Psychologist and lecturer in Post-Graduate Psychology at ACAP University College. Since completing his undergraduate studies in 2012, Arnie has completed a PhD in the experiences of transgender people and researched the experiences of LGBT+ and multicultural identities before undertaking their Masters degree to become registered through the University of Wollongong. Arnie is particularly passionate about supporting those within the autistic community, young people, and those with gender, sexuality, cultural identity, or drug and alcohol challenges.
Arnie’s career background in research and diverse identities has shaped his psychological practice, using evidence-based practice while considering individual differences due to the life histories of his clients. He enjoys educating clients on the ‘why’ prior to encouraging change. Having previously worked as a School Psychologist with the Department of Education and currently as a lecturer, Arnie has experience in working with young people and their families. They have developed skills in completing cognitive and adaptive assessments, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, and DBT.
